Clear paths, deep practice
Each class offers thoughtful guidance through alignment and anatomy, helping you discover how your unique body moves with intention and ease. You'll develop a deeper understanding of not just what you're doing, but why it matters.
Philosophy isn't separate from practice here—it's woven into every class. Through dharma talks that connect ancient wisdom with modern life, we explore how the poses we practice can illuminate the lives we live.
Bring all of who you are—your questions, your curiosity, your strength, your tenderness. These classes honor the full spectrum of being human, inviting both understanding and feeling, challenge and compassion.
You'll move, you'll sweat, you'll build strength. But you'll also learn, reflect, and perhaps discover something unexpected about yourself. This is practice that nourishes body and mind alike.

Each Heated Vinyasa class is sequenced toward a peak pose—an opportunity to workshop a particular posture and develop a deeper understanding of it, your practice, or yourself.
The peak pose focus rotates weekly through inversions, standing poses, arm balances, and backbends. Every pose leading up to it is chosen to prepare your body and mind, creating a thoughtful pathway for exploration and growth.

What students ask before their first class
No. My Heated Vinyasa classes are designed as open-level, meaning all experience levels are welcome—from your first class ever to twenty years of practice. I offer detailed alignment cues and modifications without hierarchy, so your body's needs are honored wherever you are. The class structure supports you in exploring at your own edge, whether that's learning the foundations or refining nuances you've practiced for years.
This is one of my favorite questions because it reveals a common misconception: flexibility isn't a prerequisite for yoga—it's one of many things that develops through practice. What matters more is curiosity and a willingness to work with your body as it is right now, not as you think it should be. Through detailed instruction and modifications, you'll learn how to work intelligently with your unique structure. Flexibility will come, but so will strength, awareness, and perhaps most importantly, a kinder relationship with yourself.
Flex Yoga Buffalo provides mats, blocks, straps, and bolsters—everything you need for practice. Just bring yourself, water, and comfortable clothes you can move in. If you have your own mat and prefer it, feel free to bring it. For heated classes, a towel can be helpful. Beyond the physical stuff, bring your questions, your curiosity, and whatever energy you're working with that day. You don't need to show up "perfect"—just present.
Ashta Power Fusion (Wednesday 6 AM) is a heated, high-intensity Vinyasa practice inspired by the Ashtanga half primary series—it's a set sequence that challenges body and mind through strength, balance, and breath-led movement. My Heated Vinyasa classes (Wednesday, Friday, Sunday at 8:30 AM) are dynamic flows that build toward a weekly peak pose, rotating through inversions, standing poses, arm balances, and backbends. Each pose in the sequence is chosen to prepare you for that exploration. Both are open-level with detailed alignment cues, and both integrate philosophy—the main difference is structure (set sequence vs. varied themes) and intensity.
Open-level means everyone practices together regardless of experience—beginners through advanced students share the same space. I teach the full expression of poses along with modifications and variations, so you can choose what serves your body and practice that day. There's no separate "beginners class" because I believe we all benefit from practicing together. You learn from watching more experienced students, and experienced practitioners deepen their understanding by seeing fundamental actions demonstrated. Modifications aren't remedial—they're intelligent responses to what your unique body needs.
Dharma talks are brief teachings on yoga philosophy woven into each class. I connect Sanskrit concepts—like vairagya (non-attachment), sthira sukham (steadiness and ease), or pratipaksha bhavana (cultivating the opposite)—to the peak pose we're working toward and to lived experience off the mat. These aren't lectures; they're invitations to explore how ancient wisdom applies to modern life. Philosophy isn't separate from the physical practice here—it illuminates why we practice and what might be revealed through the shapes we make. If you're someone who loves ideas and wants to understand the "why" behind the practice, you'll appreciate this integration.
The heated studio at Flex Yoga Buffalo is warm enough to support deeper stretching and detoxification without being overwhelming—typically in the 85-95°F range. It's not the extreme heat of some hot yoga styles. You'll sweat, and that's part of the practice, but it's designed to enhance the experience rather than dominate it. If you're new to heated yoga, arrive hydrated, take breaks when needed (child's pose is always available), and remember that building heat tolerance is like building flexibility—it develops over time.
All my current group classes are at Flex Yoga Buffalo, located at 9560 Main St Suite 5 in Clarence, NY (Western New York, near Buffalo). The studio is a warm, welcoming space with all the props and amenities you need. You can view the full schedule and book classes directly through flexyogabuffalo.com.
Yes. Private sessions offer space for deeper work on specific goals—whether that's refining alignment in particular poses, developing a home practice, working with injuries or limitations, or exploring philosophy more extensively. It's yoga tailored to exactly where you are and what you're working with. If you're interested in private instruction, reach out through the contact form or newsletter, and we can discuss what would serve you best.
Please let me know before class—either in person or via email. I offer modifications and can suggest alternatives to work intelligently with your body's current needs. My background in alignment and anatomy means I can help you find ways to practice that honor limitations without abandoning the practice entirely. That said, I'm a yoga teacher, not a physical therapist. For acute injuries or medical conditions, please consult with your healthcare provider first. Yoga can be therapeutic, but it works best in partnership with appropriate medical care when needed.
Then you'll probably love these classes. Strength and cardiovascular fitness from other disciplines absolutely translates, but yoga asks something different of you too—not just what your body can do, but how awareness moves through the doing. Athletes, dancers, climbers, and lifters often find yoga challenging in unexpected ways (balance, stillness, breathing practices, the discipline of not pushing). That's part of what makes it interesting. The open-level structure means you won't be held back, and the detailed instruction means you'll understand not just what to do but why it matters. Come ready to be challenged—just maybe not in the ways you expect.
